Pinterest launched their new Buyable Pins solely on the mobile platforms of iOS and Android rather than the desktop client.

3.     Why is copyright infringement a potential issue for Pinterest?

Pinterestís entire business model and website depend entirely on user submitted content. They create nothing. When their users submit items to their site, the site could potentially be held liable in terms of the infringement of copyright laws.

E-commerce is the use of the internet, the Web, and apps to transact business. More formally, digitally enabled commercial transaction between and among organizations and individuals. E-business takes place within a firm and involves information systems under the control of the firm. The intersection occurs where the needs of e-business and e-commerce merge during the areas of technology infrastructure.

The three benefits of universal business standards are lower market costs, price discovery, and network externalities.

10. How are e-commerce technologies similar to or different from other technologies that have changed commerce in the past?

The first-mover aspect of the evolution of e-commerce has remained relatively unchanged. The aspect that has changed over time has been in the area of government regulation. The government was relatively uninvolved in the early days and now e-commerce is closely regulated by governments.

15. Discuss the ways in which the early years of e-commerce can be considered both a success and a failure.

One of the short comings e-commerce in the early days were the limitations in the amount of bandwidth that could be transmitted at any given time. If you are unable to allow your potential customers to view your items for sale, how are you able to sell them? I feel this was a key area that could be considered a failure in the infancy of e-commerce.

4. Prepare a brief report or presentation on how companies are using Instagram or another company of your choosing as a social e-commerce platform.

I find that many companies are using Instagram to showcase new or upcoming products. Instagram can incorporate brief, unobtrusive, and creative forms of advertising that can attract the younger or more technologically proficient demographics.
