3.) Using the Web, identify some certifications with an information security component that were not discussed in this chapter.

            Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA) – “With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats.”

            Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) – “A Certified Ethical Hacker is a skilled professional who understands and knows how to look for weaknesses and vulnerabilities in target systems and uses the same knowledge and tools as a malicious hacker, but in a lawful and legitimate manner to assess the security posture of a target system(s).”

4.) Search the Web for at least five job postings for a security analysis. What qualifications do the listings have in common?

            Looking at multiple job postings for a security analysis, there were a few qualifications that they all were looking for. At least 3 years or more of experience with information security, a 4 year collegiate degree, and excellent written communications.

Discussion Questions

1.)    What questions should Iris ask Charlie about the new job, Kelvin’s team, and the future of the company?

Iris should ask Charlie about what type of responsibilities she would have under this new position. Are there any benefits to working in the new position? What kind of hours should they suspect? What are the plans for the company in the future if she takes over this position?

2.)    What questions should Iris ask Kelvin about the new job?

Iris should ask Kelvin what her new duties would be, ask what a normal day looks like. She could also ask if there would be any pay raise or benefits for the new job. Also she should see would there be any negatives for taking the new job.

Ethical Decision Making

1.)    Should Iris inform Charlie about her relationship with Kelvin if she does not plan to apply for the transfer?

I think if she didn’t plan to apply for the transfer it shouldn’t matter if she was in a relationship with Kelvin or not. It doesn’t have any effect on her work performance.

2.)    If she does apply for the job, but has no current plans for marriage, should she inform Charlie of her relationship?

I feel that if Iris does plan on applying for the job, letting a boss know that your in a relationship with another person in the same company could limit their potential for promotions, but is important so that they can get trust with their employees. I don’t think its necessarily a bad thing but can raise some eyebrows.
