How Can Churches Become Involved? | How can a Registered Nurse Become a Parish Nurse? | ||
Pray that nurses and parishes will be sensitive to the needs of local congregations and neighborhoods and will work together to
respond as a faith community. Pray that God will call nurses into this ministry who are willing to be advocates for improved health of body, mind
and spirit. Pray that God will bless all efforts to help our neighbors! Start talking to one or two others in your parish who might have an interest in supporting health education in your congregation. Call the Director of Parish Nurse Ministry at (715) 392-3080 and ask for more information, or email us at nwparishnursem@centurytel.net |
Most importantly, the nurse needs to have a “heart” for this ministry that is rooted in a growing faith. This desire then needs the support of the nurse’s pastor and local church council. The nurse should also have: * A current RN license * Experience as a registered nurse * The ability to function independently * Good interpersonal skills * A desire to complete a Parish Nurse Preparation Course * The ability to function effectively with congregation leadership |
