Chapter 12

ITS 364

1.   Evaluate quality and choice of video equipment. LO 12.1

Answer: If you buy just the megapixel sensor camera and get a separate lens for it, be sure the lens you chose is at least advertised to be compatible with the number of megapixels of the sensor, complete with an auto iris lens with a large f stop rating for outdoor usage. Focusing is more critical in zoom lenses, too.

2.   Describe the resolution of a high-definition camcorder. LO 12.1 and 12.2

Answer: High definition (HD) camcorders are a natural fit for the growing number of HDTVs in our living rooms. Prices on HD camcorders continue to drop, while more and more camcorder manufacturers are expanding the number of HD models they carry.

3.   Compare and contrast the high definition (HD) camcorder and the 4K

Ultra HD camcorder. LO 12.2

Answer: 4K display has to consist of at least 3,840 pixels (horizontal) x 2,160 pixels (vertical) of resolution and the horizontal can go above 4,000 pixels. This puts it on the top of the current scale of digital resolutions in which the bottom is occupied by standard definition TV (450X540 pixels), HD with 720 pixels and full HD at 1080p.

4.   Justify the use of the letterboxing technique in videoing. LO 12.2

Answer:  Letterboxing is the practice of transferring film shot in a widescreen aspect ratio to standard-width video formats while preserving the film's original aspect ratio.

5.   Compare an interlaced and a progressive video. LO 12.1

Answer: The difference between progressive and interlaced display is pretty simple. In progressive scan, all the lines that form each picture update are drawn in a single pass. In interlaced scan, they are split into two separate passes called fields. Each field contains every other line from the picture, and so the lines alternate in being displayed with each pass.

6. Evaluate examples of storage media. If you were purchasing a camcorder, which type of storage media would you prefer and why? LO 12.1

Answer:  removable drive is another popular storage device that is usually connected by firewire, USB, or parallel port.  I will go B&H.

7. Analyze the uses of a camcorder that would cause the battery life to be less than the manufacturer provides. What measures are used to judge the low-light capability on camcorders? LO 12.1

Answer: Occupying the lowest rung on the technology ladder, lead-acid camcorder batteries are very similar to the type of battery that you use to start your car every morning.

8. Describe the formatting of a script. LO 12.4

Answer: With an hour long television series episode, you write a Teaser scene, followed by Act One, Act Two, Act Three, Act Four, and sometimes Act Five, depending upon the show. If you need a visual cue, just watch an hour long show like Grey’s Anatomy, or whatever else, and pay keen attention to the commercial breaks. They are usually broken up in those above acts.

 2. Research Your Audience

 3. Decide on Your Core Message

4. Build a Video Strategy

5. Write a Video Production Brief 6. Write a script

10. Create two different scenarios in which you would share a video. Describe the content of the video. What methods you would use to share it and why? LO 12.

Answer: one scenario would be I cook a Chinese food and teach how people how to cook it. The second scenario is I would teach how to solve a calculus question. The content I would show the audience what I would do to cook Chinese food or solve a math question.
