Final Project Narrative

Smart Refrigerator

-Have you ever gone to the grocery store to buy something, but then ended up forgetting what you needed to buy?

*opens fridge* “Okay, I need to buy milk today.”

*gets home with all the groceries except for milk* “UGH I FORGOT TO BUY MILK!”

-With the new Samsung Family Hub smart refrigerator, those days are far behind us.

“Hey, did you remember to buy milk today?”

“Yep, I sure did!” J

This refrigerator is unlike anything you’ve seen before.

-Over the years, refrigerators have not changed much since the first one was built in 1834. We have come a long way, and the Family Hub is the next big thing to happen to your kitchen.

-The Family Hub features a 3-D camera, which takes a picture every time you close the refrigerator door, so you can view what’s in your fridge from your phone. Therefore, it’s impossible to forget to buy something at the grocery store! It also features Groceries by MasterCard, so that your entire family can connect to a local grocery store, make lists, and place orders. For those of us who aren’t professionals in the kitchen, the Family Hub also features All Recipes which is instant access to recipes including step-by-step photos and videos.

On the front of the Hub is a huge screen, almost like a life-size smart phone. The screen can be used to make personalized sticky notes and share calendar information. The screen also can play music from Pandora radio. It can also sync to wireless speakers already in your home.

The screen can also display lots of photos of your choice, just like you would display on your old fridge!

-Some internal features of the Hub include Custom Cooling, which lets the bottom right door change between a fridge and a freezer with the touch of a button. The Hub also has five different customizable temperature settings. It also has a triple cooling system using three evaporators for precise temperature and humidity control, so your food stays fresh longer.

Prices for the Hub are not cheap, ranging from $5,599 up to $6,000 depending on size and color. Keep in mind though, that the first refrigerators (called Iceboxes) were not cheap back in the day either. It takes time for people to get comfortable with an item, and then the price will drop. Hopefully they drop a lot! It would be awesome to own one of these.

-Overall, the Hub is a great multi-tasking refrigerator for the future. It is stylish and tech-savvy. I think that best feature is the 3-D camera because then it’s almost impossible to forget something in the grocery store. The screen on the front of the door is really cool, too. In the future I hope to be able to own one. It has been very interesting to do some research about this new product and I loved the pictures that I found also. I hope you enjoyed this video and thank you for watching!
