1. Visit your Facebook Page and examine the ads shown in the right margin. What is being advertised and how do you believe it is relevant to your interests or online behavior? Make a list of ads appearing in your news feed. Are these ads appropriately targeted to you in terms of your demographics, interests and past purchases? Go to at least two websites and like it or a product. In the next 24 hours, do you see marketing messages on Facebook related to your likes?
There are a few advertisements on the right of my Facebook page. The advertisements keep changing from technological gadgets to holiday destinations. They are relevant to my online habits since I am used to checking out device and technology websites, as well as travel destinations. Currently a beach hotel in Hawaii is being advertised, they have early bookings for the Easter weekend.
On the news feed, there are also more ads related to technological gadgets and one which was talking about renewable sources of energy, especially omega solar cells. This was after I visited the Solar Impulse website severally earlier this week. The sites that I have been visiting have also been giving hints on the timeline. One of them is a text-proofing website, which assists me in proofing my assignments, essays and my blogs. They mostly advertise offers and new products.
2. Visit the Websites of at least two different online companies. Make a list of the social, mobile and local marketing efforts you see on the Website. Do their pages display Like it! Plugins, and / o Google +1 logos? Do they have a Facebook page? If so, visit the pages to see how they use their Facebook pages. Is it different from their Web site pages? Can you identify how the firms use mobile money marketing? Use your smartphone or tablet to access their websites. Are their websites designed specifically for each platform? In conclusion, compare and critically contrast these firms, and make recommendations for how you as a marketing manager would improve their effectiveness.
Web sites have been in an active effort to sell their products to the external audience. They have support social media profiles like on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram among others. McDonalds US has six attached social media sites. These are Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and Twitter. The Facebook page is used for marketing and telling stories that relate to the various products. The same case with Twitter and Instagram, which had pictures of details of the products and the experiences attached to each of them.
Baby Pips another website has both Twitter and Facebook, this is a different sector, but it still uses the social media platforms to spread its coverage. Twitter feeds, and Facebook timelines are mostly used to share information in the forex industry and to share burning topics on the inbuilt chat forums.
